Le Monde Gourmand x Cyrus Veyssi L'Essence Shirin: Release Date, Price & Notes

Le Monde Gourmand L'Essence Shirin Eau de Parfum 30 ml in clear rectangular glass with silver cap and red signed label

Le Monde Gourmand has launched L'Essence Shirin Eau de Parfum, a $30 floral musk co-created with actor and digital creator Cyrus Veyssi, available from 5 October 2026 at Ulta Beauty stores across the US, ulta.com and gourmandbeauty.com. The brand describes the scent with the tagline "Fresh. Flirty. Vibrant."

What's New

L'Essence Shirin is a new eau de parfum co-created by Le Monde Gourmand and Cyrus Veyssi. According to the brand, the floral musk blends Veyssi's Persian heritage, witty personality and unapologetic self-expression. Le Monde Gourmand says pomegranate gives the scent juicy brightness, transparent jasmine adds a soft floral glow, and amber musk provides a warm finish.

The full note breakdown, per the brand's site:

  • Top: Pomegranate Gems, Ambrette Seeds, Bergamot
  • Heart: Transparent Jasmine, Date Accord
  • Base: Sandalwood, Amber Musk, Orcanox

The 2026 release comes in a single 1 fl oz / 30 ml size. No other sizes have been announced.

The Story Behind the Scent

In an interview with ShowBiz, Veyssi said the fragrance took about a year and a half to develop and that they kept full creative control. They first assumed the offer was a licensing deal: "At first, I thought it was one of those licensing deals where I'd just have to slap my name on something, so I wasn't interested." Le Monde Gourmand approached Veyssi after their repeated posts about the brand's Miel Bébé fragrance. Veyssi says they have bought more than 40 bottles of it.

Dozens of versions were made before the final formula was chosen. The concept draws on Veyssi's childhood. Their mother owned a fragrance boutique in Paris that carried a scent called Reminiscence, which she later brought to the US. Veyssi says the boutique left them with memories of patchouli and amber. They chose pomegranate as the starting point because it is both tart and lush, and as a nod to their Persian heritage.

"I wanted to create a sweet but fresh-smelling fragrance that would bring me back to my childhood and remind me of my Persian heritage," Veyssi said.

Veyssi has also been announced in the role of May in a Broadway production.

How to Apply

The Ulta listing gives these application tips:

  • Spray onto clean, moisturised skin at the pulse points: wrists, neck, behind the ears, folds of the elbows and behind the knees.
  • Avoid rubbing the fragrance into the skin.
  • For longer wear, the listing suggests layering with Le Monde Gourmand's Lait de Coco La Mousse and Body Oil.

The Ulta listing notes that the item cannot be shipped by air.

Key Details: Release Date and Price

L'Essence Shirin's release date is 5 October 2026. The price is $30 at both Ulta Beauty and Le Monde Gourmand's own site. According to the brand's site, US orders over $49 ship free. Ulta lists free standard shipping on orders over $35.

Jo Loves Nutmeg & Incense 2026: Release Date, Price & What's New

Jo Loves Nutmeg & Incense bottle beside resin, an incense stick and a pierced metal lantern, with smoke on amber light

Jo Loves, the London fragrance house founded by Jo Malone, released Nutmeg & Incense, A Fragrance on joloves.com in September 2026, priced at £135 for 100ml. The fragrance account ScentAdvice announced on 3 October 2026 that the scent was "OUT NOW" and called it a "New Limited Edition". Jo Loves' own product page does not describe it as limited edition.

What's New

Nutmeg & Incense is a new spiced, smoky addition to the Jo Loves fragrance line. The brand sums it up as "a spark of spice, a cloud of incense and a trail of smoky woods."

According to Jo Loves, the scent is "warm, atmospheric and effortlessly elegant" and "captures the comforting glow of spice wrapped in soft, drifting smoke." The brand positions it as "a fragrance for slow evenings, soft light and moments of stillness."

Jo Loves is a separate business from Jo Malone London, the brand Jo Malone founded earlier and later sold. Nutmeg & Incense is sold by Jo Loves only.

Fragrance Notes

Jo Loves lists the following structure:

  • Top: nutmeg oil, Madagascar black pepper, allspice leaves
  • Middle: coriander seed, kephalis, incense oil, myrrh resinoid
  • Base: akigalawood, patchouli oil, cistus concrete, Ambrofix

On paper, the composition moves from dry spice into resinous incense and myrrh, then settles on a woody, ambery base. Akigalawood is a patchouli-derived woody material. Ambrofix is an amber-type ingredient.

Key Details: How to Wear It

Jo Loves gives the following application advice:

  • Spray the fragrance directly onto your skin, focusing on your pulse points.
  • Avoid rubbing your wrists together, so the notes can unfold naturally over time.

The brand says its Fragrances are designed to last three to six hours.

Where Else the Scent Appears

Nutmeg & Incense also features in the Jo Loves Christmas Layered Candle (250g, £90). The candle burns through three scented layers in this order:

  1. Log Fires
  2. Nutmeg & Incense
  3. Christmas Trees

Jo Loves has not confirmed any other sizes, travel sprays or matching body products for Nutmeg & Incense.

Where to Buy

  • US: Not yet confirmed
  • UK: Jo Loves (£135 for 100ml)
  • International: Not yet confirmed

The price of Nutmeg & Incense at launch is £135 on the Jo Loves site. No other retailers have been confirmed so far.

Balmain Vanille Sculptée Eau de Parfum: Notes, Prices & Release Date

Balmain Vanille Sculptée ribbed amber-gold bottle glowing between textured sandstone walls in warm light

Balmain has launched Vanille Sculptée, a gourmand amber Eau de Parfum built on five vanilla notes. It went on sale in Australia at David Jones in October 2026, priced at A$280 for 50ml. The launch was first spotted by ScentAdvice on Instagram. The fragrance is listed as "New In" at David Jones, and an Italian retailer expects stock from November 2026. It does not yet appear on Balmain's US site.

What's New

Vanille Sculptée carries the taglines "Luminous Vanilla & Spicy Baies Rose" and "Sculpted Sensuality." Balmain describes it as "the glow of vanilla sculpted into a work of undeniable depth," with "five distinctive vanilla notes" that layer on each other and move "from nocturnal shadow into luminous light."

The brand also calls it "a work of architectural precision sparked with the scent of peppery baies rose." It says the composition is "grounded in the shimmering, woody sensual scent of Ambrofix™."

Key Details: The Notes

Balmain's official note list is:

  • Baies rose (pink pepper): the spicy opening accent
  • Vanilla absolute and Vanilla Super: the two named vanilla materials at the heart of the scent
  • Ambrofix™ and glowing amber woods: the woody-amber structure
  • Benzoin resinoid: a resinous, balsamic base

Fragrance coverage from iFragrance notes that the benzoin gives the drydown a resinous, balsamic finish. This places the scent squarely in the warm gourmand-amber category.

The Bottle and Sizes

The bottle continues the "sculpted" theme. It is amber-gold glass with fine horizontal ridges, a black label and a gold cap.

David Jones offers three formats:

  • A 10ml travel spray
  • The 50ml bottle
  • A 150ml refill

The 150ml refill means the bottle can be topped up rather than replaced.

Release Date and Prices

  • Australia: on sale now (October 2026) at David Jones. Prices are A$69 for 10ml, A$280 for 50ml and A$590 for the 150ml refill.
  • Italy: listed at €180 for 50ml, with availability from November 2026. The retailer lists it under the spelling "Vanille Esculptée."
  • US and UK: Balmain has not yet announced a launch date or local pricing.

How to Wear It

The scent is a dense gourmand amber Eau de Parfum. A light application of one or two sprays to pulse points is a practical starting point. The 10ml travel spray is the lowest-cost way to try the scent before committing to the 50ml bottle.

Where to Buy

  • US: Not yet confirmed

Le Monde Gourmand Le Petit Duo Set: Crème Vanille & Pumpkin Crème Minis, Notes & Price

Le Monde Gourmand Le Petit Duo Set: Crème Vanille & Pumpkin Crème Minis, Notes & Price

Le Monde Gourmand Le Petit Duo Set: Crème red box beside 20 ml Crème Vanille and Pumpkin Crème bottles on white

If your signature scent leans warm, sweet, and just a little dessert-inspired, Le Monde Gourmand has a new mini set with your name on it. The Le Petit Duo Set: Crème pairs two of the brand's gourmand Eau de Parfums — Crème Vanille and the limited-edition Pumpkin Crème — in travel-friendly 20 ml bottles tucked inside a red gift box. Spotted on Sephora Italia and currently listed for €38, it's a tempting way to try both scents before committing to a full size.

Inside the Le Petit Duo Set: Crème

The set brings together two of Le Monde Gourmand's cosiest gourmands in 20 ml minis. The brand sells both scents in full-size 30 ml bottles, shown in the photos below.

Crème Vanille Eau de Parfum

An elevated vanilla the brand describes as timeless and nostalgic, with a smooth, ambery warmth. The pyramid opens on creamy apricot, melts into a heart of vanilla orchid, and settles on a base of brown sugar and golden amber. One reviewer says it's "like being hugged by a vanilla bean" — ideal if you want a soft, everyday signature that isn't cloying.

Best for: vanilla lovers, year-round wear, layering fans.

Pumpkin Crème Eau de Parfum

A limited-edition fall scent that takes classic pumpkin spice in a creamy, comforting direction. Top notes of Pumpkin Spice give way to nutmeg and frothed milk, with a cosy base of musk and sandalwood.

Best for: autumn obsessives, sweater-weather commutes, anyone who wants a spiced-gourmand twist on vanilla.

Layering Tip: Vanilla + Pumpkin Spice

Le Monde Gourmand is built for mixing, and these two were practically made to be layered. Spray Pumpkin Crème first on pulse points (wrists, neck, inside elbows), then layer Crème Vanille on top — the creamy apricot and vanilla orchid soften the spice and extend the drydown into something milky, warm, and dessert-like. For extra longevity, apply an unscented body oil or lotion to clean skin before spritzing, and avoid rubbing your wrists together.

Where to Buy

  • US: Set not yet confirmed. Full-size 30 ml bottles of Crème Vanille ($28) and Pumpkin Crème ($28) are available at gourmandbeauty.com.
  • UK: Not yet confirmed.
  • International: Listed at Sephora Italia for €38 per Italian coverage.

Would this gourmand duo land on your fragrance wishlist, or are you holding out for a full-size bottle of your favourite? Let us know in the comments.

L'Artisan Parfumeur Abyssae L'Extrait: What's New & Price

L'Artisan Parfumeur Abyssae L'Extrait: What's New & Price

L'Artisan Parfumeur 33 Abyssae L'Extrait bottle with black sphere cap and teal sea-sponge label on an off-white background

If you love the fresh eucalyptus-and-rose contrast of Abyssae Eau de Parfum, a deeper version has arrived. L'Artisan Parfumeur has unveiled Abyssae L'Extrait, a more intense take on bottle number 33 from the brand's La Botanique collection. Created by perfumer Daphné Bugey, the new extrait explores what the house calls "a living darkness": bright eucalyptus cutting through smoky incense, then settling into a rich, amber woody trail.

What's New: One Signature, Two Depths

L'Artisan Parfumeur describes the Abyssae line as "one signature, two depths." The original Eau de Parfum pairs eucalyptus with rose and cashmeran for an airy, enveloping feel. Abyssae L'Extrait pushes everything further, with:

  • More vibrant incense: the brand lists incense (Boswellia sacra) as a key note
  • A more sensual rose: reshaped to feel warmer and closer to the skin
  • A dark, resinous woody trail: sandalwood, cypriol and ambergris anchor the composition

In Bugey's own words: "To reinvent Abyssae, I intensified its contrasts. I immersed myself in the vibrant freshness of eucalyptus resin and incense, sculpted a more sensual rose, and anchored it all in a resinous woody depth, where sandalwood, cypriol and ambergris resonate with intensity."

The result is a scent of contrasts: cool and bright at the start, then shadowy, smoky and textured.

The Bottle

The extrait keeps the La Botanique look, with a dark teal label marked "33 Abyssae L'Extrait" and a black round cap. It comes in an illustrated box decorated with seaweed and coral motifs, a nod to the fragrance's oceanic name. The brand also offers exclusive Abyssae L'Extrait gift sets. Pricing for these hasn't been published, so check the official site for details.

How to Wear Abyssae L'Extrait

  • Start small: with an extrait, a couple of sprays on pulse points (wrists, neck, inner elbows) is a good starting point
  • Layer the duo: already own the Eau de Parfum? Try it on fabric and the extrait on skin to play with the brand's "two depths" idea
  • Pick your moments: the eucalyptus-and-incense opening suits crisp autumn days, while the ambery woody base feels made for evenings
  • Test before you buy: smoky, resinous scents change a lot from skin to skin, so live with a sample for a full day if you can

Is It Worth the Price?

At £295 / $435 for 75 ml, Abyssae L'Extrait is a luxury purchase. It suits fans of incense fragrances, woody ambers and fresh-meets-dark compositions. If the original Abyssae felt too light for you, this is the version to try.

fine'ry x ACOTAR Perfume Collection: Products, Prices & What's New

Four fine'ry x ACOTAR perfume bottles in pink, black, blue and dark purple with boxes on glittering sand under a starry sky

Calling all Night Court devotees: fine'ry is teaming up with Sarah J. Maas's A Court of Thorns and Roses for a four-piece ACOTAR perfume collection, and the product listings are already live at Target. Before you add everything to your cart, here's what to know about the products, the prices, and what's really new in this bookish fragrance drop.

The Products: Four Night Court Scents

Each bottle is themed around a Velaris location or character and comes in new packaging with Night Court artwork:

  • Night in Velaris – Night Blooming Jasmine & Sweet Amber. Tagline: "Our city, our rules." A sultry, glowing floral for starry evenings.
  • Moonstone Palace – Ambery Sandalwood & Warm Moonflower. Tagline: "A lavish fantasy, kissed by starlight." It comes in a dreamy blue bottle and is the creamiest, coziest of the four.
  • High Lady of the Night Court – Enchanted Lilacs & Crisp Green Pear. Tagline: "Beauty bloomed from darkness." This fresh, juicy floral comes in a pink bottle, a fitting nod to Feyre.
  • High Lord of the Night Court – Celestial Citrus & Salted Air. Tagline: "Ready for anything… all is fair in love and war." It has a black-to-clear ombré bottle, and Target lists it as men's cologne, though anyone who loves a breezy citrus will enjoy it.

What's New (and What Isn't)

Here's the honest part. The boxes read "Signature fine'ry scent [X] reimagined as [Y]." These are existing fine'ry formulas in new ACOTAR-themed bottles, not brand-new juices:

  • Night in Velaris = No Prince Required
  • Moonstone Palace = The New Rouge
  • High Lady of the Night Court = Flower Bed
  • High Lord of the Night Court = Ultra

All four are already sold as $29.99 eau de parfums on fine'ry's own site. If you were hoping for original scents, that may be a little disappointing. What's new is the collectible packaging and artwork, which is a real draw for a fan's vanity or bookshelf. If you already own the originals, you're paying for the bottle and the fandom. If you're new to fine'ry, the collab is a fun, budget-friendly way to try the line.

Tips for Wearing Your Court Scent

  • Layer them: Pair High Lord with Night in Velaris for a citrus-to-amber combination that suits a mated pair.
  • Match the mood: Reach for Moonstone Palace on cozy reading nights and High Lady for brighter daytime wear.
  • Apply to pulse points (wrists, neck, behind the ears) and avoid rubbing your wrists together, so the top notes last longer.
  • Spritz your bookmark with a little scent for an immersive reread.

Release Date

The Target listings are live, but every item currently shows as out of stock or unavailable both online and in stores, so the collection doesn't appear to have dropped yet. No official release date has been announced. Bookmark the product pages and check back often.

Where to Buy

Which Court scent will you pick? To the stars who listen, and the dreams that are answered. ✨

Chanel Les Eaux Paris – St. Moritz 2026: What's New & Prices

Chanel Les Eaux Paris – St. Moritz 2026: What's New & Prices

CHANEL Paris – St. Moritz bottle with black cap, draped in a fluffy white knit band with gold CHANEL lettering

CHANEL has quietly added a new destination to one of its most underrated fragrance lines. PARIS – ST. MORITZ (2026) is the latest LES EAUX DE CHANEL Eau de Toilette, and it marks a first for the collection: a scent inspired by winter. If you love the airy, easy-wearing character of the Les Eaux range but want something cosier for colder months, this one deserves a place on your radar.

What's New: The First Winter Eau

Until now, the Les Eaux collection has travelled from Paris to PARIS – DEAUVILLE, PARIS – BIARRITZ, PARIS – VENISE, PARIS – EDIMBOURG, PARIS – RIVIERA and PARIS – PARIS, but never to a winter destination. PARIS – ST. MORITZ takes the series to the Alps for the first time.

The story goes back to the late 1920s, when Gabrielle Chanel spent time in St. Moritz. She skied, enjoyed winter sports, and dressed in elegant warm outfits, refusing to choose between comfort and style. CHANEL says the fragrance "wears like winter clothing", and that description sets the mood perfectly.

The Scent: Pear, Rose and Musky Amber

Created by CHANEL In-House Perfumer-Creator Olivier Polge, the composition is built around three ideas:

  • A fresh, fruity pear accord gives the opening its brightness.
  • A floral rose facet adds refinement and a touch of elegance.
  • Sensual musky-ambery notes provide warmth and contrast underneath.

CHANEL calls it "luminous and enveloping". It keeps the spontaneous, effortless quality of the Les Eaux line, but the ambery-musky base gives it more softness and comfort than the brand's summery destinations.

How to Wear It

  • Layer it with knitwear. A light mist over a cashmere scarf or a roll-neck suits the scent's cosy, "winter clothing" concept.
  • Apply to pulse points such as the wrists, the neck and behind the ears, where body heat helps the musky-amber base develop.
  • Try it as a weekend signature. Because it is an Eau de Toilette, it works well for daytime, from brunch to an afternoon walk in the cold.
  • Start with the 50 ml if you are new to the Les Eaux line, then move up to the 125 ml once you are hooked.

Prices and Sizes

PARIS – ST. MORITZ comes in two sizes:

  • UK: £145 for 125 ml and £102 for 50 ml
  • France and Germany: €165 for 125 ml and €115 for 50 ml

US pricing has not yet been confirmed.

Where to Buy

US: Not yet confirmed.

UK: CHANEL UK 125 ml (£145); CHANEL UK 50 ml (£102)

International: CHANEL France 125 ml (€165); CHANEL Germany 125 ml (€165)

Final Thoughts

CHANEL PARIS – ST. MORITZ is a welcome twist on the Les Eaux formula. It pairs the brightness of pear with the softness of rose and a warm musky-amber base, making it an easy option for winter days. We will update this post as soon as US availability is confirmed.

Tate McRae TATE 01 Fragrance 2026: Release Date, Prices & What's New

Tate McRae TATE 01 Fragrance 2026: Release Date, Prices & What's New

TATE 01 Eau de Parfum bottle with cream glass and glossy black cap, surrounded by splashing water on a grey backdrop

Tate McRae has entered the beauty world. On 1 October 2026, the multi-platinum singer and dancer launched TATE 01, her first fragrance. It is an Eau de Parfum made with Scent Beauty, Inc. and composed by Givaudan master perfumers Adriana Medina and Antoine Maisondieu. McRae calls it a "second-skin" scent: effortless, subtly edgy, and designed to enhance the wearer rather than overpower them.

What's New: A Scent That Adapts to You

The standout feature of TATE 01 is ISO E Super, a lab-created woody molecule. It reacts with individual skin chemistry, so the fragrance smells slightly different on everyone. "I'll spray on all of my friends, and it smells like a different perfume," McRae told ELLE. She admits she'd "never gravitated towards florals before." What won her over was the balance between florals and this soft, velvety woodiness. She kept reaching for it every day, and the compliments followed.

The Notes

The official brand page lists the composition as:

  • Top: sparkling bergamot, airy clary sage
  • Heart: orange flower, Hedione, ISO E Super
  • Base: sensual moss, creamy tonka

The launch materials add a radiant white floral heart that dries down into warm amber, tonka bean, sandalwood and soft woods. The result is a comforting, quietly addictive trail. McRae says the brighter bergamot keeps a youthful feel, inspired by '90s supermodels, while the sandalwood side reflects her usual taste.

The Bottle and Campaign

McRae wanted a "classic, simple, timeless" bottle that would still earn its place on her shelf in 20 years. The result is weighty, sculptural glass with soft, fluid curves. The global campaign was shot by Mario Sorrenti and channels effortless '90s supermodel energy against sweeping natural landscapes.

How to Wear TATE 01

  • Layer it on warm skin. McRae wears it to dance rehearsals because "the scent warms up and moves with my body." Pulse points and a post-shower spritz help skin-reactive notes bloom.
  • Day to night. She calls it a daytime spritz as well as a dinner-and-party scent.
  • Try it at bedtime. "I'm a perfume before bed girl," she says. She wears TATE 01 morning and night.
  • Sample before committing. Because ISO E Super changes on every skin, the 30ml is a lower-cost way to test it.

McRae has also hinted this is "a legacy beauty brand" with "lots more to come," so a TATE 02 may not be far off.

Where to Buy

  • US: Tate McRae official store: $58 (30ml) and $82 (100ml). The 100ml is sold out in the US and Canada for now, and the brand says it's working to restock it. PEOPLE reports a 10ml at $30, but the official store doesn't list it. Ulta Beauty is the exclusive US retailer. It sells online at Ulta.com from 16 October 2026 and in stores nationwide from 25 October 2026.
  • UK: Pre-order at the Tate McRae official store. Shipping is expected from 23 October 2026, and the UK price is not yet confirmed.
  • International: The Tate McRae official store ships to Canada (available now) and the EU (pre-order, shipping from 23 October 2026). Other markets are not yet confirmed.

D'ORSAY Vanilla Affair Extrait de Parfum: Prices & What's New

Beauty Talk Club Editors

D'ORSAY Vanilla Affair Extrait de Parfum: Prices & What's New

D'ORSAY Vanilla Affair bottle on stone with dried leaves, vanilla pods, an orchid and rising smoke against a dark backdrop

D'ORSAY Vanilla Affair Extrait de Parfum is a unisex woody-amber extrait by Nathalie Lorson built around two vanillas, Balkan tobacco and white musks. The Parisian niche house listed it on its official website in September 2026, priced from €28 for 5 ml to €250 for 90 ml. According to D'ORSAY, the scent is built around the idea of irresistible attraction, where "mystery takes shape, and each note becomes a pact whispered against the skin."

When Did the D'ORSAY Vanilla Affair Launch?

D'ORSAY hasn't announced an official release date. Vanilla Affair appeared on the brand's official website in September 2026, where it is presented as "our new Extrait de Parfum" on both the English and French product pages.

Price

On the D'ORSAY official site, Vanilla Affair comes in three bottle sizes plus a sample:

  • 90 ml: €250
  • 50 ml: €190
  • 5 ml: €28
  • 1.5 ml sample: €5

According to D'ORSAY, each perfume purchase includes a free sample, while stocks last. If the fragrance doesn't suit, the unopened bottle can be returned within 14 days for a refund, and the brand says the return is free. The official site also offers payment in three interest-free installments on orders from €80.

D'ORSAY Vanilla Affair Fragrance Notes

  • Top: Balkan tobacco, tonka bean, cistus
  • Heart: a duo of vanillas (Madagascar Vanilla Planifolia absolute and CO₂-extracted Bourbon Vanilla)
  • Base: white musks, amber woods, patchouli

What Does D'ORSAY Vanilla Affair Smell Like?

Built from the official notes, it opens on tobacco, tonka bean and the resin cistus. Two vanillas form the heart, and white musks, amber woods and patchouli make up the base. The brand describes the tobacco as "luminous and honeyed."

According to D'ORSAY, each vanilla shows a different side of the ingredient:

  • The Madagascar absolute is described as deep, warm and sensual, almost leathery. The brand calls this the "raw, almost wild" side.
  • The Bourbon vanilla is described as creamy, gourmand and luminous, with subtle woody and spicy nuances. The brand calls it "soft as a forbidden promise."

D'ORSAY says the musks glide over the skin "as light as a shiver."

Lorson says she wanted to create a fragrance that embodies desire through "a double dose of vanilla." In her description, it is sweet, white and enveloping on one side. On the other, it reveals darker, woody facets with an "ultra-animalistic sensuality."

Where to Buy

  • US: Not yet confirmed
  • UK: Not yet confirmed
  • Europe: D'ORSAY official website, which lists €250 for 90 ml, €190 for 50 ml, €28 for 5 ml and €5 for a 1.5 ml sample.
  • Other markets: availability varies by region; more international stockists may be added.

It is one of several niche extraits that went on sale in September 2026, alongside the Goldfield & Banks Pacific Rock Swell Extrait de Parfum and the Jo Loves Nutmeg & Incense fragrance. You can find more launches on our fragrance releases page.

What Makes the Vanilla Affair Extrait de Parfum Different?

  • It uses two extractions of vanilla: a Madagascar Vanilla Planifolia absolute and a Bourbon Vanilla extracted with supercritical CO₂.
  • The brand states a 35% concentration.
  • The top note uses natural Balkan tobacco absolute, which D'ORSAY says is obtained from dried tobacco leaves.

Formula and Packaging

According to D'ORSAY, the 35% concentration gives "an almost unreasonable intensity," leaving an ambery, musky and addictive trail on the skin. The brand says the vanilla comes from an orchid with long pods. The two extractions were chosen to express its different facets.

The published ingredient list includes vanillin, coumarin, patchouli oil (Pogostemon Cablin), clove oil (Eugenia Caryophyllus) and cedarwood oil (Juniperus Virginiana). The bottle is a black cylinder with a white D'ORSAY label.

The Story Behind the Scent

According to D'ORSAY, all of its fragrances are unisex. This echoes the house's first perfume, which founder Alfred d'Orsay created in 1830 for himself and the love of his life, Marguerite de Blessington. The couple first met in 1821 at St James's Square in London, and their convention-defying romance lasted thirty years. The brand says Vanilla Affair is designed to revive "the scent of a forbidden encounter" from which the perfume house was born.
