What Does "Duochrome" Mean in a Liquid Eyeshadow?
What makes it duochrome? A duochrome shadow shows two (or more) colors depending on the angle and the light, rather than one flat color. e.l.f. says the reflective pigments in this formula create metallic looks that "shift and transform in different lighting." That is the multi-chrome effect the brand pointed to at launch as mirroring the trend many shoppers had seen on their social feeds.
Which Shades Can You Buy?
e.l.f.'s product page lists four shades, with these descriptions:
- Mer-mazing: metallic blue / green
- Cyberpink: metallic pink / gold

Our take: all four are shifting metallics, so this is a statement-lid product, not an everyday neutral. Because it is a liquid, it suits people who want a one-step look without building color with powders.
How Is the Formula Built?
e.l.f. describes it as a high-pigment, gel-based formula made for long-lasting, comfortable wear, with a bold, metallic finish. The brand lists it as 100% vegan, cruelty-free and Fair Trade.
Should You Buy It?
Buy it if you want an easy, high-shine lid color that changes as you move, and you are comfortable with a metallic finish.
Skip it if you prefer matte or soft-focus eye makeup, or you want an everyday neutral: the four listed shades are all color-shifting metallics.
What Is Confirmed, and What Is Not?
Confirmed: e.l.f. lists the product at $9 with four shades on its Duochrome Liquid Eyeshadow page. It shows a 4.8 star rating, but from only 6 reviews.
Not confirmed: the page we read doesn't give a size, and we don't know which shades were available at the October 2023 launch. Our original post didn't list shade names.
September 21, 2026 update: we re-checked the price, shade list and claims against e.l.f.'s current product page. The price is $1 above the 2023 launch price.
