What Does Boy Smells Madonna Smell Like?

Like a Prayer opens with juniper and incense smoke. Resin and amber follow in the heart, and the base is agarwood and cedar smoke. Boy Smells calls it "a signal," one that "burns with Oud Resin, and simmers into cool Cedar Smoke." Perfumer Jerome Epinette says on the product page that he wanted it "to feel instantly warm, smoky and captivating."

Confessions opens with citrus peel and raspberry. The heart is rose and geranium, and the base is patchouli and sandalwood. Boy Smells calls it "a seduction" that "submits to overflowing bouquets of Damascus Rose, and centers itself in Dark Patchouli." Epinette says he wanted "something fruity and floral, but with a darker, smoky edge."

What Makes the Boy Smells Madonna Scent Duo Different?

  • Each vessel carries a Madonna portrait. Like a Prayer uses a previously unseen 1989 Herb Ritts portrait, which Boy Smells says Madonna personally selected. Confessions uses a portrait by Ricardo Gomes.
  • The two candles take opposite directions. Like a Prayer is built on smoky woods and resins, while Confessions pairs fruit and rose over patchouli.
  • Both scents were created by perfumer Jerome Epinette, according to Boy Smells' product pages.

According to Boy Smells, both candles use a vegan, non-GMO wax made with a US-farmed soy blend, "XXXTra Loaded" with fragrance oils and designed to reduce tunneling and eliminate sooting, with an estimated burn time of 50 hours. The brand says the outer packaging is fully recyclable and the glass vessel can be reused, and recommends trimming the wick to 1/4" before each lighting and letting the whole surface melt on the first burn (at least 3 hours).
