It is part of Rephr's Holiday 2026 lineup, which also includes the Shodō 05M and Shodō 05S, limited-edition variations of the brand's best-selling Shodō 05 brush.

Updated 22 October 2026: rephr.com shows a Holiday 2026 early-access sign-up page; the set is not yet purchasable.

Our previous Rephr launch post covered the Rephr JL17 brush with Judy Lim, an everyday complexion brush.

Release Date

Rephr announced the Sakume Holiday Set in a stop-motion reel posted around 20–21 October 2026, captioned "available 10.26." The set goes on sale at rephr.com on 26 October 2026. Rephr's Holiday 2026 early-access page went live on 20 October 2026 with a sign-up form.

Price

A luxury-beauty news account that shared the official images reported the set at $99 (US). Rephr has not yet listed a price on rephr.com. UK, European and other prices have not been announced.

What's Inside

  • 2 brushes: Sakura (white handle) and Ume (black handle)
  • 1 brush pouch
  • 1 gift box that converts into a brush holder

Rephr has not published brush sizes or lengths.

Products: Sakura and Ume Brushes

The set is named after Japan's first blossoms of the year. Rephr describes it as "a celebration of the first flowers of winter and spring in Japan."

  • Ume (black): Named after the plum blossom, the first flower to bloom near the end of winter. Artisans call it "baby Yosegi", and it has a triangle ferrule reminiscent of Rephr's 2025 Yosegi brush. The official images show a gold circle and blossoms on the handle.
  • Sakura (white): Named after the cherry blossom, which signals the arrival of spring. Artisans call it "baby Koyo", and it has a sloped profile similar to Rephr's 2024 Koyo brush. The images show a painted blossom branch on the handle.

Where to Buy

  • US: rephr.com from 26 October 2026 (early-access sign-up page live now)
  • UK: Not yet confirmed
  • Europe: Not yet confirmed
  • Other markets: Not yet confirmed. Rephr.com has region options for the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

What Makes the Sakume Holiday Set Different?

  • The two brushes are small versions of earlier Rephr holiday shapes: the 2025 Yosegi (triangle ferrule) and the 2024 Koyo (sloped profile).
  • Each handle has maki-e decoration applied by artisans.
  • The gift box converts into a brush holder.

Bristles and Packaging

  • Ume brush: It uses hybrid natural/synthetic bristles for use with all formulas. It has a triangle ferrule and a black maki-e handle.
  • Sakura brush: It uses the same hybrid natural/synthetic bristles for all formulas. It has a sloped profile and a white maki-e handle.
  • Packaging: The official studio image shows a pink cherry-blossom-print fabric roll pouch with a "rephr" label. It also shows a two-part light wooden box printed with a plum-blossom branch. A second image shows the brushes on dark blue fabric framed by pink and red paper blossoms, with "rephr" on both handles.

Rephr JL17 Brush Launch: Judy Lim's Everyday Complexion Brush Drops September 17

Rephr JL17 Brush Launch: Jenna Lyons' Petite Complexion Brush Drops September 17 — image 1

Rephr and makeup artist Judy Lim have launched the JL17 Everyday Complexion Brush. It went on sale 17 September 2026 at 12pm EST on rephr.com. Rephr announced the limited-edition brush on Instagram alongside a photo shoot. It is the latest product in the brand's community-designed lineup.

Key Details

According to Rephr, the JL17 is Judy Lim's everyday complexion brush. The brand describes it as "one brush for powder, liquid and cream." It was two years in the making and is handcrafted in Kumano, Japan.

Rephr describes the brush head this way:

  • Hybrid natural/synthetic bristles: the synthetic fibers give enough structure for heavier formulas, while the natural bristles blend product in a diffused way
  • A soft curve and a subtle point, which the brand says gives precise control over blush placement
  • A compact size designed for all complexion applications
  • Versatility: the brand says it handles liquid, cream, stick and powder blush, and deposits powders in an even, thin, buildable layer

What's Notable

Rephr says the JL17 name has a double meaning. Judy Lim started her career as a makeup artist at 17. The Japan Airlines flight that first took her to Kumano to design the brush was also numbered JL17.

How to Use the JL17

The brush is compact, so it is suited to targeted placement and buffing rather than sweeping full-face coverage. Application tips:

  1. Start with a small amount of product and build up as needed.
  2. Buff in small circles to blend cream blush, tinted serums or liquid foundation.
  3. Use the pointed tip for precision around the nose, under the eyes or along the jawline.
  4. Pair with cream formulas such as Westman Atelier's Super Loaded Tinted Highlighter or a cushion foundation.

According to Rephr, the natural bristles deposit product in a soft, natural way, which the brand says makes the JL17 suitable for makeup users of all skill levels.

Launch Bundles

To mark the launch, Rephr has released bundles that pair the JL17 with Judy Lim's favorite Rephr brushes:

  • JL17 Perfect Base Bundle: LC 01 for concealer, LC 03 for foundation and the JL17 for everything else, offered together at a discount
  • JL17 + Judy's favorite eye brushes
  • Versatile Face Brush + Versatile Eye Brush pairing

The Rephr Approach: Community-Designed Tools

Rephr develops its products using customer feedback. According to its site, a prototype is added free to qualifying orders. A feedback form is sent 60 days after purchase so the brand can refine the product and share it with its community.
