Should You Buy It, and Who It Suits?

Buy it if:

• You want full coverage that still looks dewy instead of matte.
• You want a base that hydrates and plumps, as e.l.f. describes.
• You need a wide shade range, with three undertones in each depth.

Skip it if:

• You prefer a matte or skin-like sheer base.
• You plan to rely on it as your only sunscreen. Our take: SPF 30 in a foundation only protects if you apply as much as a sunscreen needs, which most people don't do with base makeup, so layer a dedicated sunscreen underneath.

How Many Shades Are There, and How Do You Pick One?

e.l.f. lists 30 shades in six depth groups (fair, light, medium, tan, deep, rich), each with warm, neutral and cool options. The product page has a "Find My Shade" tool and a "Try It On" feature. Our take: a three-undertone system is more useful than a plain numbered range, because a wrong undertone is the most common reason a foundation looks off.

What Does "CC Cream" Mean Here?

e.l.f. calls it a "color-correcting" foundation. In the original launch announcement, the brand said it gives flawless coverage and an enduring, radiant, dewy glow, while hydrating and plumping the skin.

What Is Confirmed, and What Is Not?

Confirmed: the price, shade count, coverage, SPF and rating come from e.l.f.'s current Camo Hydrating CC Cream page.

Not confirmed: when we checked, the shade selector showed "on vacay" with a back-in-stock notification option, so availability may vary by shade. The page also didn't list a size or a full ingredient list.

NARS's Sweet Sensations Collection is a December 2023 release of new shades of the Afterglow Sensual Shine Lipstick and Afterglow Liquid Blush, plus the Afterglow Irresistible Eyeshadow Palette. NARS priced the lipstick and blush at $32 each and put the collection on narscosmetics.com starting December 24, 2023.

What Is in the Sweet Sensations Collection?

According to NARS's announcement:

• Afterglow Sensual Shine Lipstick ($32): a color-meets-care hybrid lip formula with dimensional shine, antioxidants for lip protection, and mango and shea butter for smoothness and 8-hour hydration.
• Afterglow Liquid Blush ($32): a radiant surge of color with hydrating skincare benefits, a silky formula that layers and blends without streaking, and a natural-looking glow.
• Afterglow Irresistible Eyeshadow Palette: the eyeshadow piece of the collection.

How Has the Afterglow Lipstick Changed Since Launch?

On NARS's current product page, the Afterglow Sensual Shine Lipstick is $36 (shown on sale at $32.40 when we checked), 1.5 g / 0.05 oz, in 20 shades. NARS lists shea butter, mango seed oil and its Monoï Hydrating Complex (coconut oil, gardenia tahitensis flower extract and squalene). NARS now describes "all-day hydration" and sheer-to-medium coverage with a high-shine finish; the 2023 announcement said 8-hour hydration.

Our take: the lipstick is still sold in a 20-shade range, so it appears to be part of NARS's regular lineup, and the "collection" label at launch mostly meant new shades, not a one-off formula.

Is the Collection Still Available?

We couldn't confirm that. The lipstick is on sale in a 20-shade range, but we did not confirm the Liquid Blush lineup on NARS's site (search results describe nine shades) or whether the Afterglow Irresistible Eyeshadow Palette is still sold. Check narscosmetics.com for the palette.
