Closure update: Cover FX announced on January 22, 2026 that it was winding down, and the brand's own shop now shows the message "Our shop is now closed." This post records the Blurring Primer, a $42 soft-focus primer that Cover FX introduced in August 2023.
What Did the Blurring Primer Do?
Cover FX described it as a solution to pore concerns that gives a soft-focus finish and locks in makeup. It was designed to blur the appearance of pores, fine lines and uneven texture, for a gently blurred effect, and could be used as a makeup base or patted lightly over fresh foundation for longevity.
How Do You Use It?
According to Cover FX's directions, apply a dime-sized amount to clean, moisturized skin with your fingertips, then follow with foundation and other makeup as usual. For the best result, Cover FX suggested pairing it with your preferred Cover FX foundation (we covered one in our Total Cover Cream Foundation post).
What Happened to Cover FX?
According to Beauty Independent, Cover FX said it was making "the heartfelt decision to begin winding down the Cover FX business," citing tariffs and a shifting global market.
What About the Price?
The launch price was $42. A later search listing for Cover FX's site showed a regular price of $34, so the price may have changed before the shop closed. We could not confirm either figure today, because the shop no longer sells products.
What Are the Alternatives?
Our take: if you want a pore-blurring primer, you will need to look at other brands, since the Blurring Primer is no longer sold at Cover FX's own shop. We haven't covered a direct equivalent yet.
What Is Confirmed, and What Is Not?
Confirmed: the launch details, $42 price and directions come from Cover FX's August 2023 announcement. The closure announcement comes from Beauty Independent, and the "shop is now closed" message is on Cover FX's own site.
Not confirmed: the final retail price, ingredients, and whether the primer is still sold anywhere.
September 21, 2026 update: we re-checked Cover FX's site and found the closure notice. Treat this page as a record of the product, not a buying guide.
